A waste-to-energy plant is the definition of continuous duty: the grab crane feeds the furnace around the clock, and if it stops, the plant stops. There is no gentler way to specify this crane — it is A7, it is corrosive, and the machine is expected to run for years on planned maintenance rather than heroic repairs.
| Crane type | Double girder overhead crane or gantry crane with grab trolley |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 5 t, 10 t, 16 t, 20 t, 25 t including grab and waste |
| Span | 20 m – 35 m across the pit |
| Lifting height | 8 m – 20 m |
| Duty classification | A7 (FEM 2m), designed for continuous operation |
| Grab | Orange-peel or clamshell sized from waste density, wear plates replaceable |
| Control | Cabin with semi-automatic or automatic feeding cycles, VFD drives |
| Protection | Heavy epoxy system, IP55, stainless fasteners, heat shielding near the chute |
| Spares | Recommended kit supplied in the same container |
This is the range we normally supply for this industry. Your offer states the exact capacity, span, lifting height, duty class and voltage for your site — and where a figure here differs from the offer, the offer prevails.
Because every component is sized for a different job: larger motors and brakes, a higher rope safety factor, heavier reducers, a stiffer structure, better wheels and more conservative bearings. On a 24-hour plant it is simply the correct specification — an A5 crane in this service fails early, and no warranty covers a duty class mismatch.
Yes. Semi-automatic cycles (the crane moves to a preset position and the operator confirms grab close and release) are common, and fully automatic feeding is possible where the pit and chute geometry are fixed and the control system has clear interlocks. We would normally start semi-automatic and expand once the plant's operating pattern is understood.
In order: the grab itself, the closing ropes, the brakes, then the travel wheels and rail. That is why we quote a spare parts kit with the crane — wear plates, closing rope, brake linings, limit switches and travel wheel bearings. Shipping them in the same container costs almost nothing compared with an air freight emergency later.
Workshops, warehouses, assembly and maintenance bays. Light structure, low wheel load, quick to install.
1–20 t · span to 30 mHeavy duty and long spans: steel fabrication, precast yards, smelters, heavy machining shops.
5–100 t · custom spanOutdoor stockyards, precast beds, container and aggregate handling. Hook, grab or C-hook.
3–100 t · rail or tyreTell us the material, the heaviest piece, how many hours a day the crane runs and whether it works indoors or out — we reply within 24 hours.
Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
