Shipyards and heavy fabrication yards lift things that are both heavy and long — hull blocks, girders, mill components, offshore structures. Loads at this scale are usually turned over, held at an angle or lifted by two cranes together, which means the crane specification, the lifting gear and the operating procedure all have to be designed together.
| Crane type | Double girder overhead crane (open winch trolley) or gantry crane |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 50 t, 75 t, 100 t, 160 t, 200 t — main and auxiliary hoists |
| Span | 20 m – 35 m, larger by engineering review |
| Lifting height | 10 m – 30 m |
| Duty classification | A5–A7 according to the production process |
| Safety | Dual hoist brakes, load cells and display, overload limiter, anti-collision |
| Control | Cabin with air conditioning, VFD drives, PLC control, fault logging |
| Protection | Multi-coat epoxy or galvanized, IP55, stainless fasteners, walkways |
| Services | Erection supervisor, load test, operator and maintenance training |
This is the range we normally supply for this industry. Your offer states the exact capacity, span, lifting height, duty class and voltage for your site — and where a figure here differs from the offer, the offer prevails.
With load information and a written procedure. Both cranes need load cells and displays so the operators can see the actual load, and the lifting plan defines who controls what and what happens if the load shifts. On new orders we recommend quoting both cranes together, so the capacities, speeds and control systems are matched rather than combined after the fact.
The turning load is often higher than the static weight, because of the geometry, dynamic effects and the additional tackle. We design from the lifting procedure you intend to use — send us the heaviest piece, its centre of gravity if it is known, and how you plan to upend or rotate it. If the procedure is not fixed yet, we will say what needs to be decided before the crane can be specified.
Yes, as a gantry crane with a marine protection package, wind anchoring, drainage, sealed bearings and stainless fasteners. The design wind speed for your site has to be agreed with your structural engineer, because at 30 m span an unloaded crane is a very large sail.
Workshops, warehouses, assembly and maintenance bays. Light structure, low wheel load, quick to install.
1–20 t · span to 30 mHeavy duty and long spans: steel fabrication, precast yards, smelters, heavy machining shops.
5–100 t · custom spanOutdoor stockyards, precast beds, container and aggregate handling. Hook, grab or C-hook.
3–100 t · rail or tyreTell us the material, the heaviest piece, how many hours a day the crane runs and whether it works indoors or out — we reply within 24 hours.
Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
