Port and depot cranes work in the worst environment in this catalogue: salt air, wind, and a cargo mix that changes every day. Whether you handle containers, steel cargo, project cargo or palletised goods, the crane has to be specified for corrosion, wind and the real cargo weights — not for a nominal capacity.
| Crane type | Rail-mounted gantry crane or rubber-tyred gantry crane |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 10 t, 20 t, 32 t, 40 t, 50 t spreader duty; up to 100 t hook duty |
| Span / rail gauge | 18 m – 35 m, cantilever versions available |
| Lifting height | 8 m – 18 m to the hook |
| Duty classification | A6–A7 (FEM 1Am–2m) |
| Attachment | Container spreader with twistlocks; hook; C-hook for coils |
| Control | Cabin with air conditioning, VFD drives, anti-sway, load display |
| Corrosion package | Galvanized structure or multi-coat epoxy, IP55, stainless fasteners |
| Wind package | Rail clamps, tie-down points, anemometer with automatic stop |
This is the range we normally supply for this industry. Your offer states the exact capacity, span, lifting height, duty class and voltage for your site — and where a figure here differs from the offer, the offer prevails.
Rail machines are cheaper to buy and run, hold alignment better and suit a fixed stacking layout — but they need rail foundations and cannot change yard. Rubber-tyred gantry cranes cost more and need more maintenance, but they move between rows and work on a concrete yard with no rail at all. Tell us whether your layout is fixed for the next five years; that usually settles it.
With a paint and material specification rather than good intentions: hot-dip galvanizing or a multi-coat system with a stated dry film thickness, IP55 or better on motors and panels, stainless fasteners and sealed bearings. Surface preparation quality decides how long the coating lasts, so we name the preparation standard in the offer.
The design wind pressure depends on your site and is agreed with your engineer; operation normally stops around 20 m/s and the crane is anchored well before storm wind speed. What matters is that the anemometer is wired to an automatic stop, so the rule does not depend on the operator noticing the weather.
Yes, with a spreader and a hook on the same trolley, or a quick-change arrangement. What matters is the changeover procedure and the control logic — interlocks that stop the spreader being used when the hook is selected, and a rated capacity that reflects the heavier configuration. Tell us both cargo types at quotation stage and we design for both.
Workshops, warehouses, assembly and maintenance bays. Light structure, low wheel load, quick to install.
1–20 t · span to 30 mHeavy duty and long spans: steel fabrication, precast yards, smelters, heavy machining shops.
5–100 t · custom spanOutdoor stockyards, precast beds, container and aggregate handling. Hook, grab or C-hook.
3–100 t · rail or tyreTell us the material, the heaviest piece, how many hours a day the crane runs and whether it works indoors or out — we reply within 24 hours.
Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
