Crane buying questions, answered properly

These are the questions that actually come up in the first few emails, grouped so you can find them. If yours is not here, send it — we answer email even when there is no order behind it.

Quotation & ordering

What information do you need to give me a quotation?

Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) — measured rail centre to rail centre — lifting height (m), duty (hours per day and lifts per hour if you know them), control method, power supply at your site, and destination port. Photos of the bay help. With that we normally send a priced offer with the technical specification attached the same working day.

How quickly do you reply?

Within 24 hours, Monday to Saturday, including holidays where we can. If you are working to a deadline, put the date in the subject line — we prioritise those.

Do you publish prices?

No. Two cranes of the same capacity can differ by 40% depending on span, lifting height, duty class, hoist type, voltage, control method and paint system. A published price would either be a stripped-down machine that we would not recommend, or a number we would have to change after seeing your specification. Send the specification instead.

What are your payment terms?

Normally 30% deposit with the order and 70% against the shipping documents or before shipment; custom and large machines can be staged. Payment by T/T. Terms are confirmed in the contract together with the delivery date and the scope of supply.

Can you quote FOB, CIF or DAP?

Yes — tell us your port and we quote the term you prefer. For most first-time buyers CIF to the nearest port is the simplest, with the local forwarder handling the rest. If you have a forwarder you already work with, FOB is usually cheaper for you.

Technical

Are you a factory or a trading company?

A supplier. We work with 4–5 long-term partner factories in Changyuan and we tell you which one is building your crane. That lets us match the machine to your specification rather than pushing one factory's standard product — and it means you get a supplier whose only interest is that the crane suits the job.

How do I decide between a single and a double girder crane?

Capacity over about 20 t, spans beyond 30 m, continuous heavy duty, a hook that must lift high in a low building, or a need for two hooks on one bridge — any of those points to double girder. Everything else is usually better served by a single girder machine, which costs less and loads your building less. There is a fuller comparison in our blog article.

What duty class should I specify?

Tell us the process and we will classify it with you in writing. Roughly: intermittent maintenance lifting is A3–A5, a production workshop on two or three shifts is A5–A6, and grab, ladle or continuously working cranes are A6–A7. The duty class affects motor, reducer, brake, rope and structure sizing, and therefore the price — so it is worth getting right rather than guessing high or low.

Do you supply the runway beams and rails?

We supply the crane, rail clips, end stops and clamps. The runway beams, columns and rail foundation are local civil and steel work, built to our drawing. What we give you is the data to build them correctly: wheel load per corner, wheel base, rail section, track gauge and level tolerances, and the clearance envelope.

Can the crane be supplied for our local voltage?

Yes. 380 V / 50 Hz is standard; 220 V, 400 V, 415 V, 440 V and 60 Hz versions are wound to order. Tell us the site voltage and frequency, and whether the supply is stable or from a generator — an unstable supply changes the panel and drive specification.

Shipping & import

How is a crane shipped?

Cranes up to about 31.5 m span normally ship in 40 ft containers with the bridge split and braced on transport brackets we design. Very wide machines go break-bulk. You receive a loading plan with the shipping documents, and we send photographs of the loading before the container is sealed.

Which documents come with the shipment?

Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, product certificate, factory test report, operation and maintenance manual, installation and electrical drawings, and a warranty statement. Certificate of origin and any specific certification your country requires can be arranged — tell us what your customs and safety inspection ask for before the order, not after.

Do you ship spare parts in the same container?

Yes, and we recommend it. A spare parts kit travelling with the crane costs almost nothing in freight, whereas a brake shoe shipped alone by courier a year later can cost more than the part. Ask us to quote a starter kit: brake shoes, a limit switch, a pendant station or remote, contacts, and a spare rope.

Installation & after-sales

Do you provide installation?

We provide erection drawings and an installation sequence, and we can send a supervisor or technicians for assembly, commissioning, load testing and operator training. Most customers use local labour with our supervision. Tell us at quotation stage whether you want supervision — it is much cheaper to plan into the price than to add afterwards.

What is the warranty?

Twelve months from arrival on the crane structure, mechanisms and electrical components against manufacturing defects, with worn parts (brake linings, rope, contacts) excluded. We handle claims by shipping a replacement part or arranging a repair, depending on the failure. Whatever you are told, get the warranty in the contract — verbal warranty promises do not survive a change of contact.

Can you supply spare parts for a crane we bought elsewhere?

Yes, that is a large part of what we do. Send a photo of the nameplate and of the part, plus the crane capacity and span. We identify the component and quote it — wheels, brakes, reducers, motors, panels, remotes, festoon systems and hoists are all available separately.

Do you speak Vietnamese?

Yes — we support customers in English, Vietnamese and Chinese, and Vietnam is one of our main markets. Documents are supplied in English, and we can prepare Vietnamese versions of key installation and operating instructions on request.

How long is delivery?

Typically 25–40 days to shipment for standard single girder cranes and hoists, 40–60 days for double girder cranes, and 3–5 months from drawing approval for custom launching gantries. The date is confirmed in writing with the offer and again in the contract.

Tell us your lifting requirement

Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
