Five tonnes is the size most workshops actually need: heavy enough for machine parts, dies, motors, pumps and pallets of steel, light enough to stay cheap and to fit a building that was never designed for a crane. Most 5 t single girder cranes we quote land on a 7.5–16.5 m span with 6–9 m of lift, and they are installed in a week.
Where it stops being enough: if your heaviest lift plus tackle goes over 5 t more than occasionally, or if the crane will run production shifts all day, step up — usually to a 10 t machine, and at that point look carefully at whether a double girder crane is the better answer.
And the building question: can your columns and runway take the wheel loads? We give you the wheel load per corner and the rail section before you commit, so your engineer can check it. That check costs nothing now and a lot later.
| Capacity | 5 t (0.5–20 t range available in this series) |
|---|---|
| Span | 7.5 m – 22.5 m |
| Lifting height | 6 m – 18 m |
| Duty classification | A3–A5 (FEM 1Am–1Bm, ISO M3–M5) |
| Hoist | CD1 single speed / MD1 two speed 5 t wire rope hoist; low-headroom option |
| Hoisting speed | 8 m·min⁻¹ or 8/0.8 m·min⁻¹; 0.5–8 m·min⁻¹ stepless with VFD |
| Travel speeds | Bridge 20 m·min⁻¹ (30 m·min⁻¹ with VFD); trolley 20 m·min⁻¹ |
| Power supply | 380 V / 50 Hz 3-phase standard — other voltages and 60 Hz on request |
| Control | Pendant (IP54) standard; radio remote or dual control optional |
The table shows the range we normally supply. Your offer states the exact capacity, span, lifting height, duty class and voltage for your site — and where a figure here differs from the offer, the offer prevails. See the full single girder overhead cranes range →
We do not publish a figure because the same 5 t crane can differ substantially on span, lifting height, duty class, hoist type, control and voltage. Send those four numbers and we will send a priced offer with the technical specification attached, normally within 24 hours. If someone quotes you a 5 t crane without asking for the span and the hook height, that number will change later.
Usually yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we quote. We give you the wheel load per corner and the wheel base, your structural engineer checks the runway beams and columns, and the crane is delivered in sections that fit through a normal door. Installation for a 5 t single girder crane is typically 3–5 days.
Compare your heaviest realistic lift including slings, plus 10–20% headroom for the unexpected. If it lands close to 5 t, price the 10 t machine as well — the difference is smaller than most people expect, and being at the limit of the crane every time is how overload limiter nuisance trips start. Also check the hook approach you need; sometimes the bigger crane has the better geometry in a low bay.
Heavy duty and long spans: steel fabrication, precast yards, smelters, heavy machining shops.
5–100 t · custom spanOutdoor stockyards, precast beds, container and aggregate handling. Hook, grab or C-hook.
3–100 t · rail or tyreLaunching gantries and bridge erection machines for road and rail viaduct projects.
Project-engineeredSend the span, lifting height and how many hours a day the crane runs — we reply with a specification and a price within 24 hours.
Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
