At 20 t and long spans a gantry crane is a serious structural machine: legs, bogies and rail foundation all scale with load and span, and the specification has to be designed around the yard rather than fitted into it. This is the size used for container handling, heavy cargo yards, precast plants and bulk stockpiles.
| Capacity | 20 t (series 3 t – 100 t) |
|---|---|
| Span / rail gauge | 18 m – 35 m, cantilever options available |
| Lifting height | 9 m – 15 m (higher on request) |
| Duty classification | A5–A7 according to throughput and attachment |
| Girder / legs | Double girder typical; single girder for lighter duty |
| Attachment | Hook, container spreader, grab, C-hook, spreader beam |
| Control | Cabin with air conditioning, radio remote, or both; VFD drives |
| Outdoor package | Galvanized or multi-coat epoxy, IP55, drainage, sealed bearings |
| Wind package | Rail clamps, tie-down points, anemometer with automatic stop |
The table shows the range we normally supply. Your offer states the exact capacity, span, lifting height, duty class and voltage for your site — and where a figure here differs from the offer, the offer prevails. See the full gantry & semi-gantry cranes range →
Rail if the stacking layout is fixed, throughput is high and you can build a rail foundation; tyres if the layout must be flexible or the surface cannot take rails. The trade-off is cost and maintenance against flexibility. Send a plan of the yard and how you expect to use it in five years, and we will recommend one with reasons.
The civil work. Rail foundations, drainage and the ground bearing capacity under the track can add up to a significant share of the project, and they are built by your contractor rather than supplied by us. That is why we send wheel loads and the rail specification early — so the foundation is designed to the crane instead of the crane being squeezed onto whatever foundation exists.
Legs and rails can sometimes be extended, but raising the capacity of an existing gantry crane means changing the structure, the trolley and the drives — effectively a new machine. If heavier loads are coming, tell us now: designing for the higher capacity from the start costs far less than replacing the crane in three years.
Workshops, warehouses, assembly and maintenance bays. Light structure, low wheel load, quick to install.
1–20 t · span to 30 mHeavy duty and long spans: steel fabrication, precast yards, smelters, heavy machining shops.
5–100 t · custom spanLaunching gantries and bridge erection machines for road and rail viaduct projects.
Project-engineeredSend the span, lifting height and how many hours a day the crane runs — we reply with a specification and a price within 24 hours.
Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
