Twenty tonnes is where double girder stops being a choice and starts being normal. Beyond this point the single girder bridge becomes deep and heavy and the wheel loads climb, while the main-and-auxiliary hoist arrangement most heavy shops actually use is only available on a double girder crane. This is the size we quote most often for steel fabrication, machine building and precast plants.
| Capacity | 20 t main + 5 t auxiliary (series 5 t – 100 t) |
|---|---|
| Span | 13.5 m – 28.5 m (series to 31.5 m) |
| Lifting height | 9 m – 18 m |
| Duty classification | A5–A6 (FEM 1Bm–1Am); A7 on request |
| Trolley | Open winch trolley, single or double drum, main + auxiliary hooks |
| Hoisting speeds | Main 0.5–8 m·min⁻¹ with VFD; auxiliary faster for light lifts |
| Travel speeds | Bridge 30–60 m·min⁻¹; trolley 20–40 m·min⁻¹ with VFD |
| Control | Cabin with air conditioning, radio remote, or both |
| Options | Grab, magnet, C-hook, load display, anti-sway, dual brakes |
The table shows the range we normally supply. Your offer states the exact capacity, span, lifting height, duty class and voltage for your site — and where a figure here differs from the offer, the offer prevails. See the full double girder overhead cranes range →
Count your lifts: if most are under a third of the main capacity, an auxiliary hook saves a lot of time. A 20 t main hoist moves slowly by design, and using it to lift a 2 t workpiece forty times a shift wastes hours every week. Where the work is genuinely mixed, the auxiliary hook is the cheapest productivity upgrade on the crane.
A5 for a shop crane used a few hours a day, A6 for two- and three-shift production, A7 where the crane runs continuously or handles grab, magnet or ladle duty. It is not a marketing choice: motors, reducers, brakes, rope safety factors and the structure all change with the class, and a duty mismatch is the one thing no warranty covers.
Yes, and at 20 t it is a common configuration. What changes: the trolley and rope reeving, the control logic, the duty class, and often the power arrangement for the magnet or grab cable. Specify it with the crane — retrofitting an attachment costs far more than designing for it.
Workshops, warehouses, assembly and maintenance bays. Light structure, low wheel load, quick to install.
1–20 t · span to 30 mOutdoor stockyards, precast beds, container and aggregate handling. Hook, grab or C-hook.
3–100 t · rail or tyreLaunching gantries and bridge erection machines for road and rail viaduct projects.
Project-engineeredSend the span, lifting height and how many hours a day the crane runs — we reply with a specification and a price within 24 hours.
Crane type, capacity (t), span (m) and lifting height (m) is usually enough for us to quote. Send a photo of your workshop if you are not sure.
